The greens stayed dry and the weather added to a brilliant day on the golf course for Medina and our 60 guests, raising over £2,000 this year for three brilliant charities. Freshwater Bay Golf course played hosts this year, having hosted our first event back in 2014.
Naomi House, Ability Dogs 4 Young People and St. Mary’s Hospital Children’s Ward will all benefit this year from the money raised over the course of the day which included an auction and raffle.
Places at a Silverstone Track Day were highly sought after, raising a total of £135, with a few people being outbid on a table for two dining from the tasting menu at Thompson’s which raised £105. Other popular lots were front row tickets to Jimmy Carr’s upcoming show at Shanklin Theatre, tickets for Glorious Goodwood and, in the raffle, a weekend of golf at Celtic Manor in Wales!
The one thing everyone was after, however, is the Charity Shield! This year’s winners were Max Palmer from Legends on the Sea, and Tash Boswell from The Garlic Farm – congratulations!
Albeit only our 4th event, we have now raised almost £10,000 for local charities! Those who have benefited from our fundraising efforts include Beaulieu Respite, the Isle of Wight Youth Trust, Isle Drive Safe, Naomi House and now also Ability Dogs 4 Young People and the children’s ward at our local St. Mary’s Hospital.
Thanks go to all of our sponsors, to everyone that donated be it prizes or money, and of course to all of our players!
Keep your eyes peeled for invites to our 5th Annual Charity Golf Day – let’s smash that £10,000!
