As of today, our lovable and infamous Steve ‘Bessy’ Bessant has been with Medina Foodservice for a solid and very memorable 30 years.
There aren’t many people that can claim to have trained the MD on delivery runs, but just a year after Steve Ross’ father, Colin, moved his Ryde based butchery to Newport, Bessy joined Medina’s small team of delivery drivers, showing our now Managing Director the ropes before he even left school.
The business has gone through an immense amount of change, growth and development since then – now a reputable and well known island business, Medina Foodservice now provide caterers with a range of over 5,500 products, delivering not just on the Island but across the South coast. Our fleet of just three vehicles is now 31 and our employees have grown to almost 80, but one thing has remained a constant and that’s our Bessy.
The last 30 years have not been without mischief – just ask one of our Directors, they’ll give you a story or five, but one thing is certain and that is Bessy is a much loved, solid, dependable and reliable member of the team. Congratulations Bessy on your 30 years. A sincere thanks for your efforts and contributions over the years. We look forward to many more years of work (and play) with our dear friend.
