PRODUCTS

We endeavor to purchase only top quality produce at competitive prices for the caterer.

We will not sell any product that has not already been tried and tested and had a good overall opinion from several caterers. In many cases we offer a “Brand Leader” and a cheaper alternative, but by no means is the cheaper product second grade. Just good value for money! We stock over 4,500 products including butchery, produce, frozen food, ice cream, ambient food, cleaning products and packaging ranges to suit the ‘Fine Dining’ through to ‘Fast Food’ customers.

SUPPLIERS

Every one of our suppliers are vetted and have to be of good repute before we will even purchase from them. We take it upon ourselves to ensure that we are always able to supply you, the customer, with the produce you need, when you need it.

PRICES

We are a member of The Sterling Supergroup which is a conglomerate of independent food wholesalers.

Together, we have superior purchasing power to enable us to compete with the “National” food wholesalers, naming no names!

Hence in our slogan “big enough to compete”, because we can and “small enough to care”, because we always have!

 
 

ACCREDITATIONS

We have received the approval of several consultancies and groups including SALSA (Safe and Local Supplier Approval) and STS Food Safety, and are the Island’s only SALSA approved butchery. We are also members of the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce, The National Federation of Meat and Food Traders and Wight Marque as well as The Sterling Supergroup.

LOCATIONS AND DELIVERY AREAS

We now operate out of two purpose built sites – one based in Millbrook, Southampton which serves customers across Hampshire, Dorset, Bournemouth and the surrounding areas and another in Newport on the Isle of Wight offering an islandwide service.

With significant storage for ambient, frozen and chilled products and room to accommodate our continued expansion, both bases provide us with state of the art facilities in which to operate and serve our customers from.

BUTCHERY

Our in-house butchery has been established since 1947 and offers:

  • Full traceability “from farm to your door”

  • Data logged cold store to help ensure product quality

  • The Island’s only SALSA approved butchery

  • Fully trained, long standing Butchers doing all the boning, manufacturing and portion control with the latest equipment in a state of the art temperature controlled preparation room

 
 

COOKED AND CHILLED

Our facilities include:

  • Completely segregated section

  • Temperature controlled state of the art preparation room

  • Fully trained and certified staff

FROZEN FOOD

Medina provides:

  • Data logged freezer to help ensure product quality

  • 9,000 square foot store with stock holding for up to 1,000 pallets to help stock availability

  • Fully trained staff with several stages of checks implemented to ensure the correct products and quantities are picked and delivered to you

AMBIENT FOOD STORE

  • 12,000 square foot store with stock holding for up to 1,400 pallets to help ensure stock availability

FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLES

This recently expanded department offers:

  • Warehouse and refrigerator to help ensure stock availability and freshness

  • Comprehensive product range stocked including many locally grown items

  • Very experienced staff with years of knowledge

LOADING AND DELIVERIES

We have a large loading bay for up to 16 vehicles to be loaded or unloaded at any one time. This provides minimal distance from the store to the van to help ensure products are loaded and kept at the correct temperature as best as possible.

We own 30 freezer specification vehicles with dual temperature compartments to ensure you get your produce at the required temperature and condition.

  • Fully trained drivers that have extensive knowledge of the range and are meticulous in ensuring the van is maintaining the correct temperature to ensure quality control from our store to the customer

  • Isle of Wight, Hampshire, Dorset and Bournemouth Monday to Saturday once daily

  • We help to keep our customers informed of any product changes/updates and updated if there are any potential issues with supply

  • Although we do our utmost, problems do occasionally occur, but we deal with problems and keep customers notified, rather than ignoring them

  • We can phone you at any particular time and whatever days suit you, to take your order for same/next day delivery (depending on time of order and location). If you are not already making use of this, please let us know and we can set it up for you

  • All of our staff have ongoing training, whether it is to gain qualifications or in house to help develop the business. We are always looking for ways to improve our service, efficiency and quality that you receive.
