Freak Spanish Weather Affects UK Fruit & Vegetable Supply

Spain supplies more than 50% of Europe’s vegetables at this time of year, so the recent heavy rains followed by the first snow has caused significant shortages.

The Daily Mail reports that the shortage began with aubergines and courgettes and has now spread to other vegetables, salad and, potentially, citrus fruit. Consumers can potentially expect shortages of iceberg lettuce, baby spinach, mixed leaves, rocket, lollo rossa, cauliflower, broccoli, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, lemons, and oranges.
