Once again, the Isle of Wight Ice Cream Company have been nominated for ‘Local Produce Champion’ at the upcoming My Isle of Wight Awards along with another popular, long-standing island brand Minghella.
The Isle of Wight Ice Cream Company is owned and run by four Caulkheads who saw the island’s milk going to the mainland, and mainland ice cream being brought over. Since then, the dairy ice cream is made exclusive on the island by local employees and using Isle of Wight milk and cream from just 2 miles away from where the ice cream is made, in their state of the art factory in Newport (just next door to us!).
Not only do they champion local produce but they put a strong emphasis on understanding food miles and their carbon footprint too.
Minghella are fairly new to Medina Foodservice, with distribution being made available across the South as a result of collaboration with the Isle of Wight Ice Cream Company. The Minghella family business have been making their much loved and celebrated ice creams and sorbets for over 60 years, and with a reputation that is second to none to maintain, they remain as passionate as ever about the unrivalled quality and variety of everything they make.
So if you love their scrummy ice creams and sorbets as much as we do, please take 5 seconds to vote for them here in the food category.
